Featured Program–LEGAL ASSISTANT
In our diverse and complex legal community, the role of a legal assistant is becoming increasingly important to law offices or firms. Often seen as the lifeblood of private law firms, insurance companies, banks, corporate legal departments, and other institutions requiring legal work, a legal assistant may be involved with legal research, the interviewing of clients and witnesses, investigating claims, and the drafting of legal pleadings and contracts under the direction of lawyers or legal managers.

ICS Canada offers the education in legal research skills needed to make headway into this demanding, yet rewarding, career. Legal assistants are employed by lawyers, corporations, and governmental agencies and, according to PayScale Canada, can earn an average salary of C$33,000 a year, or more, with minimum experience. Legal Assistants with 20 years or more experience can earn an average of C$49,000 a year. If you have excellent interpersonal skills, are tactful and diplomatic, respect confidences, and can review and analyze information, this might be the career for you.
