The Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF), in cooperation with its member organizations across Canada, highlighted Oct. 5, as World Teachers’ Day to honor their teacher members who make lasting and valuable contributions to our lives and communities.
“When one thinks of a teacher, a classroom and students come to mind. But for many teachers in Canada, when they step outside the classroom, they also walk into the hearts of their communities as leaders, volunteers, neighbours and parents,” explains Emily Noble, CTF President.
Teachers are not just about engaging the hearts and minds of children and youth. They are also the essential link between the school and the home. And some take it a step further by becoming active volunteers in their communities as camp counselors, charity events organizers, members of associations, church and parent groups, just to name a few.
“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”
William A. Ward
