Lauren Levish has been an instructor with Penn Foster for over 2 years. She previously worked at a local AVMA-accredited technical college where she began her work as an animal care educator. Prior to her work with future veterinary technicians, Ms. Levish served as head technician and shift supervisor in several small animal practices. She also has extensive experience in emergency and referral animal medicine.
What are some of your goals—personal and/or professional?
I look forward to helping mold future veterinary technicians. Vet medicine is always changing, evolving, and becoming more modernized than ever. It is my goal to help future [vet] techs to be up-to-date on these developments and to be adaptable to changes that occur in the field.
What are your proudest moments?
My proudest moments are being accepted into vet tech school, graduating, and then passing my boards. I am proud of each time I’ve advanced in the field and every milestone I’ve hit in my career. I think, however, becoming a mom has overshadowed all of these.
What is one piece of advice you’d like to give students?
Don’t settle – decide what you want out of your education and your career, and go get it! There are so many paths a veterinary technician can take, and don’t be afraid to use your skills to the fullest. You will have the opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of the animals and clients you come to meet.
What kind of pets do you have?
I currently have a long-haired Chihuahua named Stella. She is sassy and completely spoiled! I actually think she has a larger wardrobe than I do!
